What you'll need
- load cell 5kg with HX711 amplifier weight sensor kit
- Arduino Uno R3 ATmega328P microcontroller board
- quick setting concrete mix small bag
- steel wire rod for reinforcement
- silicone concrete beam mold set
- dial indicator gauge 0.001 inch measurement tool

Steps
- Calculate expected failure loads for plain and reinforced beams.
- Cast beam samples in the molds, some plain and some with steel wire reinforcement.
- Let the samples cure for at least 7 days.
- Set up a three-point bending test with the load cell and dial indicator.
- Load each beam to failure and record load, deflection, and crack pattern.
- Compare plain vs. reinforced results and document them for your portfolio.
What to photograph for your portfolio
- Cast beam samples
- load-deflection curves
- reinforced vs plain comparison
- failure analysis
