Steps

  1. Pick 2 products to compare, like reusable vs. single-use bottles, cups, or bags.
  2. Define a functional unit, like drinking 1 liter of water a day for a year.
  3. Build an inventory of materials, manufacturing, transport, use, and disposal.
  4. Model both products in openLCA.
  5. Compare global warming, energy, and water impacts and find the break-even number of uses.
  6. Document the study for your portfolio.
